The three companies say they are working to simplify transportation tracking for the entire industry, through the use and activation of GPS devices built into vehicles. According to the trio, the result provides shippers greater visibility into the transportation journey and carriers a streamlined digital input process.
In a statement, the three companies announced that they have co-created a comprehensive GPS tracking solution, which will give shippers the ability to track almost every load in Europe, including spot loads. It is powered by CO3 technology, aided by Iveco’s Integrated Vehicle Tracking System, and connected to the dispatcher’s SennOS platform.
The dispatcher points out that spot loads represent 20% of the trucking market and one-off loads are often undertaken at short notice, often the same day terms are agreed. She says this short notice approach used today means that carriers must receive goods quickly, which does not leave enough time to activate GPS tracking systems.
However, under the new system, when a shipper orders a load and the shipper matches it with a carrier, carriers can activate it within 10 minutes via CO3 technology. Previously, the process took over 48 hours, so the partnership has reduced that time by 99%.
According to Synder, the solution gives shippers “greater visibility into the transportation journey” and provides carriers with a “seamless digital integration process.”
The company adds that there is no cost to carriers, as the technology uses built-in GPS devices. Iveco is the first OEM to enable point tracking in its trucks with built-in GPS devices.
The solution is currently available in all European countries and can be scaled to the 50% of European trucks equipped with built-in GPS. The potential for widespread adoption across the industry is strong.
Commenting on the partnership, David Notacre, CEO and Founder of sender, said:
“We are excited to partner with IVECO and CO3 to improve visibility in logistics. We share a mission to future-proof the logistics industry and believe our partnership paves the way for an innovative and efficient approach to load tracking. We will continue to partner with our industry peers to ensure that carriers and freight forwarders are equipped to move their cargo as efficiently as possible.”
Grzegorz Patynek, CEO and Founder of CO3, added:
“Today’s vision helps improve supply chain management and supports risk and incident management in the contract market. In the project, we addressed the lack of real-time tracking solutions and focused on monitoring individual orders. Therefore, our partnership is the first step in tackling this complex problem on a larger scale and finding partners who see value for their existing group of customers. Such partners are IVECO and the consignor.
Finally, Fabrizio Conicella, Head of Global Digital and Progressive Technologies at Iveco, commented:
“We are proud to strengthen our partnership with sennder and CO3 with the shared goal of contributing to more sustainable transportation. By leveraging CO3’s next-generation APIs and advanced technology and sennder’s proven platform, we can now support transportation and freight companies in making their mission more productive while reducing their carbon footprint.”
