West London lighting and video hire specialist Color Sound Experiment has expanded its fleet of vehicles with a brand new trailer and trailer, a Volvo FH460 Globetrotter Euro 6 tractor unit, complete with a 45-inch Schmitz Cargobull low-drive three-axle Ferroplast, and Express semi-tractor.
Chosen for its efficiency and dynamism, this vehicle is an investment made to provide convenience for haulage equipment for tours and festivals across the UK and Europe. It will also provide customers with an added element of cost-effectiveness as Colour Sound can offer independent haulage services for large one-off trips.
The truck will be particularly busy during the upcoming festival season and will help streamline overall production logistics by reducing the amount of off-site transportation required.
“All our vehicles have been purchased with the aim of making our operations as flexible and versatile as possible to suit customers’ needs,” commented Color Sound’s H (Hayden Cruickshank). “The presence of art greatly enhances the capacity of this service.”
With shows, events and projects involving increasing amounts of equipment, a larger, more spacious option was needed in addition to existing transport and the new truck joins a 12-tonne truck delivered in November.
The 460 tractor is one of Volvo’s flagship products and a popular heavy commercial vehicle, known as one of the most reliable trucks on the market. The “FH” stands for “Forward Control High Entry”, with the numbers indicating the engine. Features include cruise control, ABS, gearbox oil temperature monitoring, GPS, etc.
The robust automatic gearbox works with Volvo’s innovative I-Shift automatic transmission system which helps shift gears with precision and communicates with the engine for maximum performance, all of which makes driving easier, safer and more comfortable with no heavy clutch or stick to contend with. .
The I-Shift system is also designed to save fuel, and each gear shift is precisely timed. It features dual-circuit compressed air brakes, X-cam drum brakes with a compressor capacity of 900 liters/minute and front and rear disc brakes, as well as ABS and spring-type parking brakes on the front and rear axles.
The trailer is made of Ferroplast which combines the increased insulation of new NX17 rigid polyurethane foam with durable layered metal surfaces on both sides. Using an adhesive bonding process, Schmitz Cargobull uses this material to build boxes with completely airtight surfaces for vapor diffusion. Ferroplast objects are energy efficient, hygienic, resistant to aging and easy to repair.
The trailer has three 19.5″ disc brake SAF axles and six 445″ 19.5″ Super Single” wheels.
Full air travel is enabled for both the tractor and trailer and all this and more ensures that the Color Sound Group has the safest and most comfortable journeys to and from site.
Color Sound already has one full-time Class 1 HGV driver on its transport team, and more people will have the opportunity to get their licenses in the coming months.
The first project for the new art article and trailer was transporting the lighting and video props for the Bangface EDM weekend at Southport Holiday Park.
