Applicants do not need any specific educational qualifications. However, they should possess Indian heavy truck licenses issued before September 2009 and have good communication skills in English, TOI said.
According to the authorities, applicants’ driving abilities will be assessed at the automated driving test track at Yelahanka, located in Bengaluru, on June 20 and 21. The test is open to both male and female drivers. Selected candidates will receive free visa and air tickets. After passing six months of training, they are entitled to a monthly salary ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh. During the training period, candidates will receive a salary of approximately ₹50,000 to ₹60,000.
Meanwhile, members of the Truck Owners Association said that for every 100 trucks, they only get 70 drivers as a driver shortage is now being reported across the country.
