A little over a year ago, Murat Ates, founder ATIS LOGISTICS LIMITEDShe embarked on an entrepreneurial journey and founded Ates Logistics, a trucking company that partners with Amazon to move loads across Europe. Murad started with just three trucks, and has now expanded its fleet, including nine fully electric heavy goods vehicles (eHGVs). across the Amazon Shipping Partner ProgramHe has built a company he is proud of, leading a diverse team of 30 drivers, including two women.
Murad, a married father of two, says his fascination with technology and fast-paced environments led him to the transportation industry: “The opportunity to integrate new technologies into such a dynamic industry was great.” Starting out as a Troisdorf resident with a background in automotive parts wholesale management, he now leads his team while operating a fleet of Volvo eHGVs. “The environment is important to all of us, and we are proud to contribute a small part of it through these electric trucks.”
His team shares his enthusiasm. Daniel Steinbeld, a driver from Mönchengladbach with years of experience, is impressed by how silent the electric trucks are: “I feel proud to be one of the first to drive these e-trucks, I feel like I am part of a big transformation in our industry.” Michaela Link, a driver from Krefeld, echoed this sentiment: “Being part of this change is really motivating, you know you are doing something for the environment.” For Yannick von Hamel, another Ates Logistics driver, what was most surprising was how powerful and responsive the trucks were: “I was amazed by the power behind them.”
Amazon is launching The first 20 heavy goods electric vehicles Within the Amazon Freight Partner program in Germany in late 2022. These vehicles are one of the initiatives that brings Amazon closer to decarbonizing its fleet and becoming carbon neutral by 2040, ten years ahead of the goal set by the Paris Agreement.
Murad attributes part of the success of his trip to the support provided by the Amazon Freight Partner Program. “The advanced resources and technology provided by Amazon have been critical in improving our operations.”
