German shipping company Hillebrand announced this week that it has acquired UK-based bulk liquid logistics provider Braid
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Hillebrand expects the acquisition of Pride to expand its business in handling non-hazardous bulk liquids, such as wine, olive oil, juices and edible oils.
Braid currently operates a fleet of approximately 2,500 ISO (International Standards Organization) tanks. These tanks can be transported internationally by container ships and delivered to customers in an intermodal manner.
In addition, Braid manufactures its own flexible tanks, or flexible plastic container liners, for transporting non-hazardous liquid bulk materials at its facilities in the UK and China. The company claims that all components of its flexible tanks are “traceable to the source, including polymers.”
Hillebrand is one of the largest companies specialized in transporting alcoholic beverages and other food liquids worldwide. The company employs 2,300 employees in 90 countries.
“With its global reach and wide range of customized logistics solutions in bulk liquid transportation, as well as its expertise in manufacturing and technology, the acquisition of Braid supports Hillebrand’s strategy to not only lead the market in logistics for alcoholic beverages but also for non-hazardous beverages,” said the Chairman and President “Bulk liquids,” Hilbrand CEO Cees van Gent said in a statement.
In the meantime, the two companies’ wholesale liquids services will operate separately, but will be combined over the next 12 months, Hillebrand said.
Hillebrand, which is 175 years old, said it will continue to grow its operations organically and through acquisitions. So far this year, the company has acquired 3W-Logistik from Germany and Royal Logistics in the US
