Daimler Truck said it has successfully demonstrated that hydrogen fuel cell technology could be the right solution to decarbonise long-distance road transport.
The OEM has announced that a public road-certified prototype of its Mercedes-Benz GenH2 truck has completed Daimler Truck’s #HydrogenRecordRun, covering a distance of 1,047 kilometers driven by a single tank of liquid hydrogen.
Powered by a central fuel cell system and equipped with a liquid hydrogen fuel tank system, operation began on September 25, 2023, at the Mercedes-Benz Truck Customer Center in Woerth am Rhein, Germany, and was completed on the morning of September 26 in Germany. The capital, Berlin.
The truck completed its journey fully loaded with a GVW of 40 tons under real-life conditions, emitting no carbon dioxide.
Standard driving with closed tanks and independently controlled mileage is confirmed by an inspection document from TÜV Rheinland.
