Two major shipping companies are betting on technology that allows workers to operate forklifts remotely as the distribution sector faces a persistent labor shortage.
Shipping company Ark Beast NFI Industries Corp. and logistics company NFI Industries Inc. have led a $42 million investment to support startup Phantom Auto Inc.’s remote vehicle operation program and plan to deploy thousands of remotely operated forklifts over the next few years, the companies announced Wednesday.
