Girteka Logistics, a full-service European freight transport company, has announced its 7,000th truck. While the European trucking industry remains highly fragmented, Girteka Logistics is seeing continued growth on the back of investments in staff, technology, trucks and environmentally friendly operations.
“Our industry will face significant challenges due to Brexit, EU legislation, slowing European economies and more,” says Christian Kas Mortensen, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Gertica Logistics. “Thanks to our size and the maturity of our internal processes, we find ways to adapt to such changes, do our job well and continue to be environmentally friendly.”
Gertica Logistics has successfully expanded its fleet from just 2,900 trucks in 2016 to 7,000. Today, the high-performance Volvo FH trucks are the largest brand in the fleet. And the expansion doesn’t stop there: Gertica Logistics plans to reach 10,000 trucks and 20,000 drivers by 2021, with Volvo Trucks as the main partner.

“We are very proud that the all-new Volvo FH will become the 7,000th truck delivered to Gertica Logistics,” says Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks. “This is further evidence of our long-standing business relationship, delivering fuel-efficient trucks, superior driver comfort and support services that contribute to a better return on investment and a sustainable future for one of Europe’s largest road haulage companies.”
The largest European companies look for consistent quality and a high level of sustainability when choosing their transportation providers. Since the European trucking industry is highly fragmented, having the largest fleet of FTL trucks in Europe means that Girteka Logistics can compete on quality, technology and sustainability.
“We are truly delighted to deliver a special Volvo FH truck to the Girteka Logistics fleet. This historic delivery reinforces our more than decade-long partnership that combines outstanding customer service with Volvo FH trucks that are leaders in fuel efficiency, safety standards and driver productivity,” says Jarkko Aine, Managing Director of Volvo Trucks Lithuania.
“As one of the leading players in the European trucking industry, we see scale and quality of operations as our main advantages. Using this scale supports our goal of continuing to grow faster than our competitors. Today we are able to hire more than 100 new truck drivers per week,” concludes Mindaugas Paulauskas, Chief Transport Officer at Gertika Logistics.
