Volkswagen has introduced the Meteor – its new line of heavy vehicles. However, the two new models will only be launched in the South American market.
Volkswagen Caminhuis e Unibus presented two new models in early September: the Meteor 28.460 and the Meteor 29.520. The vehicles are based on the MAN TGX and are the largest Volkswagen The cars that were ever produced. We will not see them on European roads, as they are only intended for the South American market.

The VW Meteor 28.460 four-wheel drive truck has a towing capacity of between 48.5 and 53 tons. According to the manufacturer, this version can handle tippers, general cargo containers, cold storage, dry goods, silos, etc.
The Volkswagen Meteor 29.520 4WD has a higher towing capacity of 57 to 74 tons. This vehicle is designed for medium-sized goods transportation over long distances.

The vehicles are available with MAN D26 engines with 520 hp and 2,500 Nm of torque and 460 hp at 2,300 Nm. The new Volkswagen trucks will be equipped with ZF TraXon gearboxes, in 12- or 16-speed versions. Volkswagen has also introduced new wheelbase dimensions: 3,200, 3,400 and 3,600 mm, which allow the installation of fuel tanks with a capacity of 640, 780 or 940 litres.

Volkswagen also announced the launch of the new Volkswagen Constellation 33.460 with 6×4 drive system, designed for heavy-duty tasks such as transportation in difficult terrain.
The MAN brand will not disappear from the South American market. Volkswagen is clearly committed to the coexistence of the two brands and models.
